Best Pediatric Hospital for new grad?

I will be graduating in May 2007 with my B.S. Major in Nursing. I really love working with kids, as I am a big kid at heart myself. My wife wants to relocate, as the only reason we moved to our current area is for me to attend nursing school. Where is a good place to work for a new graduate nurse, with low crime rate, good public schools, and reasonable housing and living costs that have pediatric oportunities for a new nurse. I would like a nice place to live that is accepting of others within reasonable driving distance of the hospital. All suggestions are welcome. Thanks in Advance for your replys.

St. Louis Children's Hospital. Was rated within the top ten in the country. There are surrounding communities on the outskirts of St. Louis that are great places to live. Also, have the option of living in Illinois and driving across the river to go to work. We also have a metro link system and one of the train stops is right at Barnes/Children's Hospital. Cost of living here is low compared to other areas in the U.S. Good schools, people friendly, lots of family orientated things to do around here. I live on the Illinois side of the river and it takes about 20-25 minutes to get there. Maybe a little longer on during heavy traffic. Very safe area where I live and housing is cheaper here compared to Missouri.

My vote is for Cincinnati Children's Hospital. They are top ten too. I worked there while obtaining my MSN degree straight out of a BSN program and loved it. Lots of choices for a new grad and a good orientation program. Great place to live too! Housing is reasonable, there are some good public schools to the north side and if you live within the I 275 loop around the city, you are about a 15 minute drive from the hospital in most cases. The city is divided into districts almost, so you get a small town feel with bigger city options. I loved working there and only left to return to my small, hometown due to my family, etc. No children's hospital here and I sure miss it. I have only great things to say about that place!www.cincinnatichildrens.org

I agree. Cincinnati Childrens is a phenomenal institution to work for! They have a very extensive introduction for new grads, great benefits, and all the staff are supportive of new nurses!
