Anyone ever used a resume writing service? If so, were you pleased with the results?
I have never used that type of service. However my friend did. She spent about $300.00. It took the person a very long time to get the resume back to her. That all happened almost a year ago and she still does not have a job and more importantly has never been called for an interview. My friend also that she has to "do her resumes" alot and I am not sure what she is doing if she paid some one to do it for her. My friend does have a bachlors in Bus. and is currently in a masters program for teaching. I personally would not pay someone to do that. There are so many resourses out there... I think you can handle it. In one of my classes they said that it is personal choice on how you set up a resume... As far as order, (most recent first or first job first) stick to the facts. Use a vanilla paper, not white. Use regular font size 13. Once you do it, save it and keep adding to it. The personal statement can be general, but the cover letter may have to be written per job. I am also sure within this site we will provide all the support and help you will need.Best of luck!

Comment:
my husband did after graduating as an engineer. We may have chosen wrong, and I'm sure there are great places out there, but it was nothing that we couldn't have done on our own with the computer and quality paper. For us, it was a waste of $300 and the internet provides so much wonderful input as to how to put one together for free. As stupid as it sounds, having been a manager wading though multiple new grad apps., paper thickness and strong clear fonts really do make a difference. You get 50 plain paper resumes, and one that is thicker, has simple easy to read fonts... it DOES stand out for that brief moment, and personally, those that chose the extra step were the ones I called first. Doesn't mean I chose to HIRE them... the interview was my key to a right fit for my unit, but that did give some an interview where I was bored wading through papers of the same new grads and others stood out.I may be a minority, but when you have hundreds applying, anything that stands out may make a difference... try a different textured paper... but keep it simple.
