Hiring Managers please answer

1 I have been a nurse for 8 years and have a diverse background. I have always risen through the ranks quickly at all of my jobs to be the go to resource, be it a hard stick, or "how do you do this", etc. The physicians seek me out to ask questions regarding their patient's care and ask that I be assigned to their patients. Having said that I have been working in a 24 hour urgent care that is really nothing short of a mini ED. I would like to return to acute care but without one year recent acute care experience I can't get an interview. WHY??????????? There is no learning curve for me except to find out where supplies are located. I'm also a super user for meditech, Epic, and touchworks. I know we are all working short, and I see tons of openings. Can someone please answer this question for me. I just don't get it.
I'd make sure that your resume and cover letter clearly spelled out the high tech skills that you have acquired. Also, get ACLS if you haven't already.
Thank you for your response. I truly appreciate it. I have done all that you've mentioned. I have my ACLs, PALS, BLS, TNCC and am going to sit for the CEN next month. I plan on taking every critical care cert exam I can. I suppose I'll just have to walk in and request a chat with the dept managers .i realize this may be pushy and unconventional but after all I'm a nurse. Aren't we all pushy and unconventional at times in order to get things done?!
My first instinct is that you look expensive on paper.
Can someone please answer this question for me. I just don't get it.
