What did you want to be when you grew up?

1 And did it have to do with nursing?

I had 3 things I wanted to be: A nurse, a scientist, and a special education teacher. I cannot remember a time in my life where I wanted to be something different.

I'm kind of all 3 I did a lot of work with special needs people as a nurse. The scientist part comes through with using your nursing judgement and trying to put the pieces together with the Dr. to make a clear diagnosis Also, I am attaining my degrees in Psychology and Sociology... social sciences...

A lot of nurses I speak with have wanted to be a nurse, teacher, or vet... So, I'm interested: What did you want to be (who knows, maybe I'll do a research paper on it... LOL)?

I wanted to be a professional football (soccer) player.

A vet. Animals are much nicer than people

Wow, whoop! That is a far cry from nursing. Did you get injured?Diane, I could NOT agree more So many nurses wanted to be a vet... So, why did you end up a nurse and not a vet <not that it is a bad or negative thing!>.

When I was in elementary school, I wanted to be a swim coach and a bus driver. Starting in jr high, I really wanted to be an archaeologist. I even majored in anthropology with the initial intention of going on to grad school for archaeology when I got my bachelors.

I wanted to be an Obstetrician (or "the doctor that delivers babies" as I put it back then). I am now an LDRP nurse with a goal of eventually becoming a CNM

When I was in elementary school I wanted to be the one who picked out the names for nail polish and lipstick colors - the most fabulous job in the world! Then an oceanographer, a teacher, a chef, a hair stylist. I must have changed my mind a thousand times. Nursing was the first adult career decision that I've made and stuck to. Now I just need to get through nursing school and see how it turns out!

I've always wanted to be a nurse. As a kid, I would always want to dress up as a nurse for Halloween. When I was in middle school and early high school I wanted to be either a marine biologist or an archeologist, maybe even a marine archeologist (do thise even exist?). If I ever changed my career, I would love to do something along those lines. In late high school , my dad made me seriously start thinking about what I wanted to major in in college, because he didn't want me to be a forever student and he didn't want to waste his money since he was helping me ou with tuition. After talking to nurses and marine biologist and making a very lengthy pros/cons list, I decided on nursing. Most of the time I don't regret my decision, I love what I do and the job stability but every once in a while I wonder what is I had decided to become a marine biologist.
