what am I doing wrong?Rating: (votes: 0) In the future, I would leave your phone on at all times. I know it sucks, but I work third shift too--I can't sleep at night anymore!--, but since I am applying to jobs now I turn my ringer on during the day now. With regards to your present situation, when you miss the call the first time, it becomes a gamble between setting the time and being considered a pest. However, they did contact you...so I would give her a few days and then call again. Comment:
Id keep trying to call! Leaving the phone on is always an option, but if youre anything like me, you can have a conversation on the phone in the middle of your sleep time and then not remember a word of anything being said later on.Good Luck.

Call again..as far as applying and not hearing..I'd wait a few days - 3 or 4 then call..any earlier wouldn't really be beneficial as it takes time for the people to review applicants plus tend to their other obligations. Good luck. I truly understand the frustration and anxiety you feel!

Is email an option?I just wonder because it gets round the whole 'sleeping during the day' problem, and allows good communcation at a time that suits you, not when they call and wake you up and then you cant think straight.

If you really want the job leave your phone on or see if they can contact you by email? Good luck I hope you find what you are looking for

I also work nights and in the process of getting a new job. I always leave my phone on. I am not risking missing an interview because I was sleeping.

Just for an update its been almost a week and I still have'nt heard anything. I've pretty much given up on the one that called before. But as for the local job I'm more interested in, should I still call? If so what should I say? I was thinking just asking if they got my resume, but I don't think that sounds very good. Maybe just say I sent a resume by email about a week ago and just wondering if they made any decisions yet?

Call them BOTH again TODAY.

Since you cannot change the fact that you work night shift AND are on the job hunt, you have to sacrifice unfortunately.I would get one of those cheap pay-as-you-go phones so that way you can give them that number and keep it on at all times and turn off your main phone. This way, you can be assured it's an important call and worth you waking up and taking it.Good luck!
