ACLS PrepRating: (votes: 0) I'm taking an ACLS course later in the month. Are there any suggestions for materials I should review? Thanks, Suburban.Raider.11 Review your cardiac rhythms. The rest of it is provided in the book for the course. Comment:
It's honestly not that hard, Idk why everyone seems to get all nervous about it. Unless your instructor is a complete hole then you usually dont fail. Now if you fail the exam then thats your problem, it's not difficult if you pay attention and have some experience with EKGs n some of the meds that they talk about in the course.

They really have changed the way they approach the course. Many, Many years ago it was a NIGHTMARE! Now a days you have to try really hard to fail. The biggie...rhythm strips...http://www.madsci.com/manu/ekg_rhy.htmhttp://lane.stanford.edu/portals/cvi...s_for_ACLS.pdf

ALL OF THE ABOVE have the correct answer. You must know your BLS. Good basic BLS is moving up to the top of the list as one of the most effective interventions in ACLS success. Knowing BLS trumps all the fancy schmanzy is it a 3rd degree heart block, what is the dose of amiodarone, how many joules, etc.

I took the ACLS certification about a month ago and I am a new RN grad so I had no experience whatsoever. So I paid $5.00 for this site: http://acls-algorithms.com/The exam was hard. I think you need an 84 on the written to pass. The megacode scenarios were ok. But you really need to know the algorithms.

acls seems pretty easy now that the algorithims have been reduced of some meds. piece of cake. pediatric dosages on the other hand, broselow in hand

Suburban, you tube. Use it! It was a life saver for me and it taught me A LOT about rhythm strips. Got em down pat now! Just look up all the different rhythms. They have some really good tips and instructors on there that help tremendously. Just keep watching them over and over. Hope this helps. Good Luck
