Quote from lifein08Hello? What should be the salary for staff education director at a long term care facility? The facility is in IL and they told me 28 - 29. I think its too low. I am from a different state? What do you think? Advice please.

Quote from xtxrnI'm in IL.... grab it. With 18 years of experience, I got hired to the floor at 25/hr (2003), moved to MDSs (no change in rate even though an administrative position). With this state being a total joke with Medicaid, I'd be surprised to find higher rates unless MAYBE in the city- and then you won't see much change over the last few years w/economic situation.

LTC doesn't pay all that much in IL but...Are you around Chicago now or outside of the 6 county metro area?I'd try salary.com and/or http://www.indeed.com/salary to get some numbers but indeed's numbers seem to vary depending on how you tweak the job title. If they want you, you may be able to negotiate up a bit if you provide them a rationale to do so

Quote from lifein08I see. Why are the nursing wages so low in IL. I am here in Texas where educators make 70,000 and higher.

Quote from xtxrnStaff education at an LTC is an inservice coordinator- not a nursing instructor. Been there , done that (LOVE TX!!! ) IL also has state taxes- so you get even less- the gov just increased that, so next year we get to pay more for less...

There's a wide range, depending on where in IL. Are you talking Rockford (or another similar farming community) or Chicago?ETA: Sorry, I see now that you're talking the Chicago metro.
