Pregnant and promotion

I am currently 8.5 months pregnant and the promotion I've been hoping for has just opened up. Do you think that being this far along and them knowing that I will have to soon take a leave will work against me? I have made it known that I do not plan to take an extended leave barring serious complications perinatally but will still be off until my OB releases me back to work. This is a job I really really want and feel I am very well qualified for but am scared that they will pass me over because of the impending leave. I have filled in for this position previously and all my co-workers feel confident that I am the best candidate for the position but I'm just nervous. If I do not get this position at this time I feel that it will be several years before another opportunity for this position will open up and do not know if I am passed over for this position what I will do (not to sound overly dramatic, but it will seriously make me consider other career goals).
I think you are over-analyzing this. You basically have 2 options: apply for the job or not. One of those options guarantees that you will not be chosen.Good luck!

Not sure how any of us would be able to give you a reasonable answer, since we don't know your facility/personnel/policies, etc.

Quote from LouisVRNOh, I've already applied I was just looking for opinions as to whether or not people thought that it would hurt my chances of actually getting it.
