Night shift questionRating: (votes: 0) Tuesday at 11pm! Good luck enjoy nights it is awesome! Comment:
I would call and ask as this can very from place to place. Better safe than sorry! Most places I have worked at say if you are working Monday nights you come in at 23:00/23:30 Monday. However, for a brief period of time one place I worked at decided that Nights on Monday meant you came in at 23:00/23:30 Sunday - because most of your shift was worked on Monday. They stopped this practice after a few weeks because too many people got confused.

You should go to work Tuesday at 11pm.I have been working night shift for a long time... I work 12h shifts, though. Night shift is a great way to start after graduating. Good luck!

Depends....If I was nights on say friday the 10th, I would come in friday night at 11pm. My husband however, would come in on thursday night at 11. It all depends on the facility.

Check with your facility. Most places I worked Tues 11 to 7 actually started at 10:45 Monday night.

I usually clarify by saying "Monday night into Tuesday morning" or "Tuesday night into Wednesday morning". I love nights. Nights changed my life. Working nights, or "the loser shift" as some of my guys friends like to make fun of me about, allowed me to get my LPN while I worked nights as a Mental Health Assistant. Now I'm an LPN working nights and it's allowing me to get my RN, then BSN, and hopefully later my APRN. It's also allowed me the time to get my real estate agent and broker license. Working nights allowed me to assemble and mantain an apartment rental property business that's now worth millions and gives me an income that can permit me to walk away from doing nursing altogether if I so choose (at my age of 35 years old).I always tell nurses that are burned out to go onto nights so that you can start working on another career or another source of income to transition into during the day. Nursing is unique because you are able to work any of 3 shifts at a decent rate of pay...try finding that type of flexible work schedule as an engineer or another career..hard to find.

It can be either, according to how the schedule is written, and how the person you are talking to, references it. You need to ask to make certain. You do not want to miss your first scheduled day of work.

Please find out! I say "I work Monday night" because that way my friends know I can't hang out on Monday, I have to work. I consider Tuesday my "day off," even if I don't get off until 7:30 that morning. However, my hospital calls midnights the "morning" shift. (Day shift is 0700-1530) Therefore, even though I may go in at 11PM or 7PM on MONDAY, it is considered Tuesday morning.

Depends on the facility.

Thanks everyone, I will ask to be sure! I think I will like nights too! I'm excited to start!
Comment:
Confirm- many places have you on the schedule for a specific day, but because majority of hours are worked on a Tuesday, for example, it's scheduled as that Tuesday, but you show up on Monday at 2300 (or whatever time night shift starts)

Omg guys, you are confusing the poor kid. New-grad: Congrats on your new job.. Don't feel ashamed or embarrassed calling staffing or your managers to clarify. They will not think you are dumb. Rather, they will see you as ambitious and responsible. No harm to your rep.
