IV CERTIFICATION

Im new to Nurses.com, and dont know if I am post correctly. Sorry if not. My question. I am a CNA, and almost finished with my Phlebotomy class. I would like to get IV certified. Who, how, and where do I do this in Central California? Any info is appriciated. Thank You
Try calling CA boards and check of this is posible for you. I believe phlebotimist are not allowed to start iv's, I might be wrong. Good luck!

Our phlebotomists cannot start IV's, but they can draw arterial blood gases. Go figure.

Will depend on the Nursing Practice Act in your state. If they only allow LICENSED people to do IV starts then you need to return to school.
