http://nursingjobs.allnurses.com/c/j...obs&jb=9075704This is a posting right here on allnurses.com and all I did was click the "JOBS" link at the top of the page. this is the first listing. it says:[FONT=book antiqua]“Earn-While-You-Learn” – Work Study Program[FONT=book antiqua]The program is designed to allow international nurses to earn US wages while completing their education. The program enables you to work in healthcare or other employment in your first semester of study in the United States while you study for your master’s program in healthcare administration. Within the first year, you will become U.S. licensed nurses working in U.S. healthcare institutions such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, and medical practices – earning high salaries.[FONT=book antiqua]

And that is part of the reason US NGs are having such a hard time.

I'm sorry OP. What I meant was there are many old and new grads looking for jobs as well as nurses with experience. Don't give up.

Oh man these are the kind of posts that really make me mad.....certainly not the OPs fault, its the fault of the out of touch US govt....pure unadulterated silliness

I'm an experienced nurse and I can't find a job. Anyone else having this problem?????

Lots of work out there if you are willing to get your foot in the door working the night shift or weekends and then if you show them you are fabulous hopefully in time the better shifts open and you can hop in that spot. Hang tough and be flexible so you bend and don't break. Smile

I am sure that many people would appreciate you pointing out where this cornucopia of jobs is Thanks in advance!!!

Finding a nursing position depends on which area of the country you are, what experience you have, and what type of degree (certification, ADN, or BSN) that you have. I know that they are building a new hospital in Monroeville, Pennsylvania that will be opening June 2012 and UPMC has many positions open but we are in an ultracompetitive nursing market. Not to say that you will not be able to find a position here. BSN is preferred for UPMC. With the recent drilling of shale in the Pennsylvania/Ohio regions I think that we are at the bottom of an economic resurgence. Nursing positions are starting to open up in this area as far as I can tell. Some rural areas may need nurses with experience such as out working on a Native American reservation. I cannot speak with experience on this because I have not tried. On the same vein I believe that there is some type of Job Corps which really need nurses. Extensive travel is required I think.I would not say that there is a cornucopia of jobs out there but sometimes you may have to take a position in a nursing home. I graduated in August and myself and the other nursing students have found jobs within four months (at least the seven nursing students that I have kept track of including myself). Three of us found jobs in a nursing home, four of us found a job in a hospital. We also live in an ultracompetitive area of the country for nurses considering that we live within a 50 mile radius of about 20 nursing schools. I really wanted to work for UPMC and that is where I concentrated my efforts. I used all of my interviewing skills to land the position. I start on Monday. Most information contained within this post is pure opinion and subject to rebuttal.
