NgtRating: (votes: 0) what is your understanding? Do I need to open it after 2 hours? or I maintain it open for 2 hours after feeding? or let us conclude the order is not quite clear? I'm a new grad too so maybe it's just not clear to me either. To me it sounds like they want you to vent the ngt for 2 hours after feeding, and then close it after the 2 hours. I don't see why they would want you to keep it closed right after feeding and then open it after 2 hours. The order isn't clear though so I would ask. Comment:

Definitely call the MD. I would be worried about the contents backing up through the tube, as Esme said. Usually they mean to do not resume suction for 2h post admin food/meds (had that a few times), but never heard of leaving it open per se.
