Pre-op Lovenox/Heparin

would you give the 2100 dose of lovenox or heparin sq (for prophylaxis only) to a patient going for surgery the next day (time of surgery unknown)? i've asked 2 doctors and one told me to hold it and one said to give it.
I would see what the doc wanted. Exactly like you said, some would hold and some would want it given.

ask anesthesia and the surgeon what they want you to do.

heparin is cleared in ~6 hours... your patient should be able to get a 2100 doselovenox is another story as it can stick around for 24h
