Working at a VA Medical Center

I am considering taking a job at the VA medical center as a Nurse Navigator in Fee Basis. Do you think this would be a good job for a busy working mom? I currently work as a school nurse and love the schedule but the work is sometimes monotomous and with the economy, we are constantly worried about cuts and being more spread out. I already cover 3 large schools. Any advise out there from working moms who work at a VA and if so, how do you like it? What should I do?
