Compression stockings....

Anyone have a good brand they recommend? I'm a new nurse and my legs have been achy. I'm on orientation 5 days a week and on my feet for most of the day (as are most of us) so I'm sure that has a little something to do with it. Just curious of your opinions on compression stockings before I go and purchase some. Also, do they make you really hot?
Yes, they are VERY hot, but there's nothing like them for controlling edema and supporting your legs. I use the Futuro brand (knee-highs) in flesh color and love them. =)

Comment:
Hot and itchy - no matter the brand & I've tried them all with a history of 2 different DVT's.But, I do have to say, they make my legs feel so much better. Hot/itchy legs = bad Legs without achiness and swelling at the end of a long day = priceless.

Comment:
i havent noticed hot/intchyness. I agree they make a world of a difference. As for the brand I have mine from a few hospital stays (hey they charged me $50 a pair, might as well get some use out of them!)

I don't have compression stockings but I do wear those Diabetes socks that you can buy at Walgreens. They're just knee high socks and are kind of thin that offer more support. I'm not a diabetic, but those make my legs feel great. I think they're under $10.

I wear Nurse Mates Supp Socks. Have them in white and navy, and they're a Godsend. I don't notice that I am any warmer while wearing them, and I am pretty hot-natured. They are about $9 a pair and worth every penny, IMHO.

Comment:
most of my colleagues use futuro brand, and the prestige medical nurse, they seem to love them specially during winter

Comment:
I wear Jobst, bought them on Amazon. You can get them toeless or with toes. Most of my coworkers prefer the toeless, but I like the ones that are like socks. I get medium compression, a lot of people get light compression. My feet did swell, so I wear medium and my legs feel much better! They felt weird the first day or two, but now if I don't wear them I feel weird and my legs get achy.
