How did you knick their line? Listen, everyone makes mistakes. I can't comment on your situation because I don't know the details. If you identified the problem, intervened appropriately, and the patient is okay, you are most likely fine. You will likely get pulled off the case and hopefully your employer will give you some remedial training and supervision to make sure you are safe to practice. You would only lose your license if you were grossly negligent. Also, you probably shouldn't call yourself DummyRN! You need a new screen name!

What was going on when you knicked the line?

Until we know what actually happened there is no way to speculate.

I also use my Blackberry to access Allnurses and type messages, so the "I'm using my phone" is an excuse for poor grammar.Back to our regularly scheduled thread....

Well, geez, once you told the OP, she fixed it. No need to beat her over the head with it when she is already stressed out.

you nicked the line with something sharp (?scissors?), i'm guessing (the knicks are a basketball team), and that's why you're in this pickle (that's a baseball term...too much sports on tv lately). no need to use anything sharp in a way that would damage a line. there is entirely too much fuss on these boards about "losing my license." if you were exceeding your scope of practice, you might get a warning at most for this; people lose their licenses for fraud, theft, working under the influence, diverting narcs for personal use, etc., not for nicking a line. see if you can get a job with an actual internship/preceptorship in a hospital. home health is no place for a new grad, because, as you discovered, you are on your own out there with no back-up.good luck.
