New Orientee working with SNRating: (votes: 0) I would consider the source.....they must be very insecure/young. Don't become one of "those" nurses who "eat their young" even when they ask for it. They sound like they are threatened by the new association and is staking "her" territory. I would gently acknowledge that I see her confidence/familiarity on the floor and that you are lucky to share a preceptor that can obviously produce great results (her as the example) and that you would appreciate any assistance from her to help achieve your "sea legs" familiarity to the floor. engage the enemy.Keep your friends close......your enemies closer.Congrats on passing NCLEX....and Welcome to Chaos! I would just grin and bear it and get through orientation. Orientation sucks, period. Even with a great preceptor, you're still the new guy and it's easy to feel dumb. Just laugh it off, and don't take yourself so seriously. Focus on learning what you need to learn to practice safely and competently, and don't worry about what the SN thinks of you.

Thanks all for words of encouragement. I don't let that bother me anymore. I've learned that people will be people. Some are worse than the other anywhere I go
