why is celebrex no longer preferred?

I have been tasked to find out why Celebrex (celecoxib) is no longer a preferred med, why it's not prescribed as much anymore. I've googled a little bit, and can't really seem to find anything concrete. Any ideas? Suggestions on where to start looking or how to find this out?
If I remember correctly, I think it was linked to some adverse reactions, don't remember the specifics or if this is even true lol, and again, that could have been a different NSAID. A med of some sort is always getting pulled off the market (though celebrex is still available, I believe), darvocet being the most recent one I remember d/t its link to cardiac adverse effects.

And, if I were to guess, it was GI bleeding. That's the risk of any NSAID, but if one specific drug is linked to too many adverse effects, it gets placed under review. That's just an educated guess, though. Maybe someone else can substantiate this b/c I don't really feel like googling at the moment and must wash scrubs before work tonight lol

This is what the FDA has on it.COX-2 Selective (includes Bextra, Celebrex, and Vioxx) and Non-Selective Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)

COX-2 selective drugs increase the risk of MI and are contraindicated in patients with a history of cardiac problems.

The reaction of taking Vioxx off the market was akin to swatting at a mosquito with a sledgehammer, imo....just totally overkill.Yes, it could increase the likelihood of a stroke in some patients, but if memory serves it was like going from half a percent to two percent risk....whoopty-doo. If you have chronic pain issues and Vioxx helped, suddenly you were S.O.L. because someone deemed a very very small risk too much of a risk. Frankly, there are those who used it who would have preferred the stroke to living in the constant pain.Celebrex is still, thankfully, on the market, as it is the only non-narcotic, non-ibuprofen that is available to help some people who can't find relief without it.

I prescribe celebrex a few times a week. My patients love it.

Bextra was a miracle drug for me. I was so upset that they took it off the market. I didn't get the same results with celebrex. Judicious use of Aleve is the only thing that works now.
