Any medical books you would suggest?Rating: (votes: 0) For me: Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story I can definitely say this is the one autobiography that was my deciding factor in which specialty I was most interested in. Not to mention, his story of trials and tribulations & triumph is inspiring to any person. But, his story is one I would suggest to any new med student! I like Echo Heron's book, 'Intensive Care: The Story of a Nurse". She has another book too but I haven't read it yet. Comment:
I read Impaired: A nurse's story of addiction and recovery. May not be quite what you're looking for, but it was a very interesting read, and amazing to see how easy a nurse came addicted to Haldol, then dealt with it, and everything she went thru to keep her license. The Chicken Soup books are always good, I think there's 2 Nurses ones out now. Also, First Year Nurse, a collection of advice for new grads, I can always use some positive encouragement from others that have already been there. (I start Fundamentals in a couple weeks, and am already overwhelmed and doubting myself lol) I love to read too, so hope to see some more good reccomendations!
