how to gain experience?

Hi, Folks - second career potential nursing student here! Applying in the Fall to, hopefully, begin studies in the Spring. I read a lot how experience is necessary to get a job after graduation; however, how does one gain experience if no one will hire w/out experience? I've never worked in health care; so this is all greek to me. Enjoying reading all the different threads and how open and honest everyone is! Thanks, all!
