Gifting my orientatorsRating: (votes: 5) I had a fantastic preceptor during my capstone in nursing school. She was due to have her second baby a few weeks after I was finished so I gave her a gift card for $50 to one of her favorite restaurants, so that her and her husband could go out after the baby was here or use take out. I also wrote her a nice card telling her how much her instruction and patience with me helped so much. I also brought in a few dozen doughnuts for the floor as a token of my appreciation for their hospitality during my time there. I think it's a nice gesture, even writing out a nice card. It means their hard work doesn't go unnoticed either. Comment:
Sure. I wrote Thank-You's to all my preceptors at my current job just thanking them for their help. I got my main preceptor a $5 gift card to the coffee shop in our hospital. I didn't feel like spending a lot of money was necessary.

I recently went on an interview for a new graduate internship program and was invited back to job shadow on the floor. i brought a nice big fat bottle of GoldBond Ultimate hand lotion! It was so satisfying for me to see everyone on the floor enjoying it!

Please just make sure you write on the card "Thank you for ORIENTING me" not orientating.....You attend orientation, you become oriented/precepted.

A nice card with a personal note inside. a $10 or $20 dollar donation in their name to a cause--red cross, a local toys for tots or angel tree, cancer research, veteran's causes.....or a couple of children's books for the peds waiting room, with a label inside "given in grateful appreciation to nurse xyz from exit96, student, 2012 or even a donation to the local elder home's activity fund in her honor.
