Just wondering do we have to get a livescan fingerprint everytime we renew our rn lic? This will be my first renewal and i havent done the livescan yet becuase under FAQ in brn it states if a applicant have not previously been fingerprinted then they are require to get one. But i have previously been fingerprinted less then 2 yrs ago. TIA!!
Not sure about your state, but Texas is in the process of trying to get all nurses in TX fingerprinted. They are doing it randomly, and will notify the nurse prior to their renewal date.

I'm in Cali, no you don't need to get your prints done again. Heads up, it's faster if you pay online, one of my coworkers sent snail mail and couldn't work for a week because his license lapsed.

I understand that fingerprints are 'catching' many previously unreported felons from years past who were flying under the radar & others who have not yet reported arrests & such that occurred since last license renewal. There is also potential for technology that would use fingerprint scanning as an electronic signature for patient care records (new can of worms entirely) Now, if we could only bring all the "C- suite" (CEO, CFO & such) in on the same process - LOL.

Also catches people who try to get a license under someone else's name posing as a move, change of name with marriage, etc.

Interesting, because Canadian nurses are not fingerprinted either.
