Does this sound like a bad idea to anyone else????

I work in a closed memory unit. I am responsible for 16 patients with help from 2 aides. Almost all are fall risk(like 13 out of 16) and must be watched at all times. All are also total care pts and can do nothing themselves. I'm in the hall while the aides do ADL's and when I'm going to be in a room for awhile, one of the aides is in the hall. They now want me to do admissions outside the unit where I have no idea of what's going on and can't even really see in. Did it tonight and it took an hour and a half. Yet I'm still responsible for what happens when I'm gone. Does anyone else think this is kinda setting up a risk for my license?
Why do they want them done outside the unit? Are there any other nurses on this unit? If so they should cover for you, if not this sounds like a bad idea..

Yes. If you are the only nurse, I would not leave 2 CNA's on the unit to fend for themselves. As I am sure that at times, it takes 2 to care for a patient at a time. And if 13 are fall risk, sounds like serious understaffing to me.

After looking at the state board of licensing, you will not lose your license for something like this.....unless your a habitual drunk and go home and fight with your boyfriend, and then come back to work drunk and steal meds and take em all while your at work, then throw up on your bosses desk, before you go outside to wreck your car into her car, resulting in your arrest. Literally, those were the kinds of things nurses were losing their licenses over.
