What would you do?

You work hard, you're a competent, caring nurse. You're always on time, only calling out of work twice in four years and your patients and family members simply think the world of you, but the people you work for don't because if they did, they wouldn't try to cheat you out of what is rightfully yours. This is what happened to me. I work for a "For Profit Home Healthcare company" with small offices all throughout the US. I work out of one of those offices in NJ. I accumulated PTO (paid time off) and needed 20 of those hours because I had no work for a week while school was off for the Easter Holiday. When the time came to collect, I saw on my pay-stub only 4 hours of PTO and not the 20 I requested, furthermore it was at a rate far below my normal hourly rate. What would you do in my situation? Is it legal for this company to pay me less per hour for PTO than my normal hourly wage? When you take your PTO time does your employer pay you less money? I am so disgusted.
This maybe a mistake on their part. I would email your manager, HR, and payroll. I prefer email because of the paper trail.

No problem. I've dealt with similar "mistakes" in the past.

Sounds familiar. Bet I know which company!

Before crying foul ... have you simply brought the mistake to someone's attention and attempted to have it fixed?
