Working per diem only?Rating: (votes: 1) Sent from my iPhone using allnurses.com I used too. I either had a private policy or was on my husbands insurance. I got hours, sure, but with children it was impossible to have immediate child care so I had to get a set schedule. If I didn't have to worry about the kids having good care I would always work PRN. But I was also in LTC where you loose nurses often so picking up hours is always possible. It also makes budgeting for bills and living expenses a pain. Comment:
I do. No problem getting full time hours. I'm on my husband's insurance, and my kids are teens, so no problem with them staying by themselves. I will never go back to regular staff, if I don't have to. I work when I want, and if I want to take a couple weeks off, I can without refusal.

I did this for several years. I purchased my own insurance and my kids were covered under their father (my ex).
