Nominated for Daisy Award :)Rating: (votes: 0) I am a new grad and have only been an RN since February on the medical unit at my hospital. I showed the letter to my NM and she said that I should be very proud to be nominated so early in my career. I guess "proud" wouldn't be the right word for how I feel though. I am very humbled and it actually brought tears to my eyes when I read the nice things that the patient had written about me. It makes my heart happy to know that I made a difference in someone's life. After all, isn't that what nursing is all about? Being a Daisy nominee just encourages me to strive to do my best every day to be a great patient advocate. ![]() Just had to share my little "feel good moment." I also wanted to say how much I love AN. I've learned so much from so many people on this site! My manager nominated me for a Daisy award. What the heck is it? p.s. CONGRATS! Comment:

Well you know we students...1 semester of school and we like know it all (kidding) I actually first learned about it from being a member of the Assembly of Men in Nursing Association. Apparently many male nurses have received the Daisy award.

http://daisyfoundation.org/daisy-award/faqI dunno about the "most prestigious" thang, but it looks like a program that hospitals can buy to use as a motivating factor for their nursing staffs.

Thanks for all the Congrats I don't really look at it as the "most prestigious" award. I was just happy to be nominated by a patient and her family because it made me feel like I really made a difference in their life during their stay at the hospital. Sometimes you get patients that are very difficult and no matter what you do to go above and beyond to make them happy, they just don't seem to appreciate anything. To me, it just is a neat way for a patient to say thank you for the care they were given.I don't care if I actually win the award...it's the letter that the patient and family wrote that means the most to me; something I will always treasure
