Davis's Comprehensive Handbook of Laboratory and Diagnostic Tests With Nursing Implications(the yellow one): NOT comprehensive.
You can't find Basic/Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (under any name) in the index. You have to look up each test in the group individually. Same with hepatic function panel.
I called F.A. Davis editorial dept and customer service to ask where in the doggone is the section on the BMP located? The rep put me on hold and came back and said, "It's listed under BUN." What?
I pay $45 for a lab test handbook and have to Google "Basic Metabolic Panel?"
Wonder if Mosby's is any better.
If I am missing something please tell!
Just wait until you discover that different labs/hospitals have different definitions for the above labs, not to mention different values.
