Traveling in one area?

My husband recently applied for a job which if he gets it will move us from Iowa to California. I work in a NICU and have for 3 years. I'm not sure I want to start all over in another NICU since I work mainly day shift and know I'd have to go back to rotating or nights which my body does not tolerate well. I would also like a little more flexibility to be able to visit my family and friends back in Iowa. I saw an ad for travel nursing but just in an area of CA. Does anyone have any experience with this type of travel nursing? Would you reccommend it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
