How would I benefit from having a lawyer? My former employer told me I could not contest or fight this. How do I find a lawyer?

You need an attorney to protect yourself, your assets and your reputation. Do you have professional liability insurance? If so, call them now! If you do not, contact a nurse attorney experienced with BoN issues. It's not cheap but what are your license, your reputation and assets worth? The American Association of Nurse Attorneys has a lawyer referral service on their website. www.taana.org

Look up your state bar association and call them. Say you need a referral for lawyers who have experience defending nurses against neglect/abuse complaints and actions against their licenses by the BON.If APS is involved, there could be criminal charges. If they are notifying the BON your license could be under threat. A lawyer can help you with both. You may not be able to contest your firing, but you certainly can hire an advocate to protect your interests during whatever proceedings may be coming.Good luck.

Thanks a lot for your advice. I have contacted a lawyer and he is asking for 7500. I don`t have malpractice insurance so I may have to pay out of pocket. I am searching for another job. Thanks for your support
