Compensation for ACLS or BSNRating: (votes: 0) Can you tell me it your facility offers additional compensation for ACLS and/or BSN? If either one is yes, please let me know which and how much While we are at it, do you max out at additional certifications compensation? For example my facility currently offers $0.50 for ACLS & $0.00 for BLS. Thanks in advance! No and no Comment:
My hospital pays for our ACLS class and then pays us hourly for going to the class. They give an annual bonus for certifications like CCRN, CWOCN, SCRN, etc., but ACLS is just an expectation in the ICUs. We can be reimbursed up to $3000/yr for applicable classes, providing we pass the classes.
Comment:
Fifty cents for ACLS; nothing extra for BSN. They will pay 50 cents for an additional certification, but nothing for BSN. They feel the BSN has the same scope of practice as an ADN or diploma RN, so they don't pay extra for it.
Comment:
No for BSN but $$ for tuition reimbursementNo for ACLS but they pay for classes and timeOther certs (M/S, ONC, OCN, etc) one time 1K and then 500 for re-ups. Some increase for climbing clinical ladder, which is funny because and ADN nurse at a CNIII or CNIV is making more money than the CNI or CNII BSN nurse LOL
Comment:
My facility offers $0.00 in extra compensation for possession of a BSN degree or ACLS certification, but they offer ACLS certification to nursing staff for free.
Comment:
ACLS and PALS are required so they pay for the renewal classes and the hours spent in class. One hospital I worked at paid 5% for BSN and then an additional 5% for either CCRN or CEN.
Comment:
My facility started this year; that they would only reimburse in state tuition. No out of state online class.
Comment:
No additional income for BSN, certifications, or ACLS. However, the ACLS class is provided at the facility free of charge for those required to have it (critical care, procedure areas, ER) and one is given education time in lieu of working a shift so attendance is paid time. BSN by 2020 is mandatory with the exception of new grads hired from the affiliated ADN school, but they will be required to begin classes immediately (automatic enrollment in BSN completion program following graduation from ADN program at the same school) and finish within 5 years. Limit of $4500 in tuition reimbursement per calendar year, which doesn't even come close to covering all of the classes. Only $4800 for graduate level courses- and they cost way more than $300 more than BSN classes.Certification exams (initial only) will be reimbursed with proof of passing but nothing is done beyond the initial certification (salary or reimbursement for classes/CE to maintain the certification).
Comment:
We have to have a BSN at work, so no extra money there. The ACLS class is free and something that all of us on our unit have to eventually take, so no extra money there either. For certs, CMSRN, etc, they offer reimbursement for the exam fee, and we get an extra $75/month for it.
Comment:
acls is required and we are paid normal wages while in renewal class with no extra compensation. For bsn, it's 3% above our base hourly rate.
