identity theft

I had my identity stole on the job and since I have never had this happen before, I don't know what to do. what can i do to protect myself on the job, what are my rights when I know I was not at fault for an action that someone took using my ID.I am the one that found the incident and if it weren't for me, an investigation would never be done. However, if they don't find the culprit, it kind of looks like they are going to fire me for the offense. what can I do?
The answer depends on what happened. If by "identity theft" you mean that someone used your password or ID card to access something (computer, records, meds), then you can be held liable because you didn't take enough care to keep it secret. That is your responsibility. Call your malpractice insurance provider (you DO have malpractice insurance, right? This is one reason everyone should!) and ask for your free attorney, because it sounds like you're going to need one.
