Carreer Advice --- scary?Rating: (votes: 0) I'd consider this position. Seriously.I've been working in nursing homes throughout the past few years, and a 3-month orientation for a new RN supervisor is practically unheard of. In my area, the typical orientation time for a new supervisor is 3 days to 1 week, and management will laugh in your face if you dare to request more time. Remember that nursing homes usually do not have the budgets for long orientations the same way hospitals do. Well, 3 months is a hell of a long orientation for a nursing home!Good luck to you! Comment: You were offered the position for a reason. Don't doubt yourself & have confidence. Between your background, 3 mth orientation & the support of the director- you should do fine. The only thing you may want to take into account is the 3 year commitment. Is that something you would consider? Also, why don't the other staff members want the position- do they know something you do not? So you have alot to consider- I wish you all the best.
