hello, im currently at a community college and taking pre reqs. I am transferring to a university for a RN/BSn degree. My goal is to become NP, so i study alot and was thinking maybe i could start studying for the NCLEX now. would it be possible or do i need the hands on experience in school? Is there any questions about anatomy, physiology on the exam? because that is what i study right now.
-thank you
The NCLEX is a test of application. There are very few fact-based questions. Instead, most questions are ones of application (i.e. given a situation what would you do?). I think that trying to study for the NCLEX without having any nursing courses is going to be more frustrating for you than anything. If you are trying to figure out how to get a jump on the game I would suggest reading a book like Test Success: Test-Taking Techniques for Beginning Nursing Students. This will help you to understand the types of questions you are going to be encountering in school (and later on the NCLEX) and learning how to approach them.
