resigning: rehireable?

Hi, for those of you who have resigned from a hospital, what is the usual protocol for someone who has resigned. If you put in the required notice, and they consider you resigned, does that usually mean you are 'rehireable' status? Do prospective new employers get this information upon inquiry?
