Peds RN to OB- difficult change?

Hi, I am currently a Peds RN on a med/surg floor and possibly have the opportunity to work in OB. Just wondering if anyone went from Peds to OB and if so, how was it? Just curious as to how difficult a transition it is.

Many years ago I left the Peds ICU and transitioned to a high risk L&D unit. Any change of that magnitude is challenging. L&D is nothing like peds....However, my pediatric expertise made the birth aftercare soooo much easier. It takes about 6 months after any specialty change in nursing to feel like you know enough to practice safely and not be a danger to your patients.... If you are interested in OB go for it! Good luck.
