Resigning after 2 weeks as DON- Advice please!Rating: (votes: 0) Thankfully, I've received a job offer for another job that is more in line with what I want to do. They want me to start next week, if at all possible. I know that it is unprofessional to give less than a 2 week notice, but otherwise, I can't start the other job until June. And I don't know if I can stand working at this agency for that long. And frankly, I feel that they have taken advantage of me. How horrible do you think it is to give a 2 day notice instead of 2 weeks in this case? Ick! If you're that miserable... I would in the nicest way possible explain what I don't like about working there, and let them know I'm not returning. At least by telling them WHY, maybe they will make changes for the next person. Comment: I am usually the one who says ... "You accepted the job and now have an obligation to resign in a professional manner -- giving proper notice, etc." Did you not assess the job situation before you accepted it? However, in the case, the employer sounds so bad that I think you should run from there as fast as possible -- particularly since you have another job all lined up.So ... I recommend leaving with minimal notice ... but learning from this experience to do a better job of investigating a job opportunity before you accept it.Comment: I wonder if the employer will figure anything out? Good luck in your new position.
