Resume building advice

Hey everyone,
I am extremely frustrated and I know there are MANY others in the same boat as i am in. I graduated a year ago and have been working for about 7 months on an Eating Disoder unit. I like what I do but I am dying to get a job in the area I LOVE cadiology. I had a clinical in the Cardiac Care Unit and loved it! I have been applying to jobs for a long time. I am wondering what I can do (even if it does not pay!) to help build my resume so I will have a chance at getting an interview for a job! I would really appreciate advice. I am just so frustraed, almost to tears!
