BSN to DNP?

So tonight I met with the assisstant Dean of Admissions for the University of South Carolina nursing program. I had gone in with the expectation of talking about the masters program for Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, but I left with the application for DNP in acute care. Just looking for thoughts/ feelings on DNP versus masters degree.
