Working question

Hello everyone I will soon graduate and take the PN-NCLEX. The month after we are moving to Japan. My husband is in the Marine Corps and that is our next duty station. Getting a job on base there will be very difficult for me. There are about 20 nurses there now with no jobs. Most of which are RN's. My question is does anyone have any suggestions of things I can do to keep my skills up and not look like a nurse that has been sitting for three years? lol I am TERRIFIED I am going to come back and not be able to get a job. I was thinking of doing all the CE's I can while there. Also, maybe a cert. in gerontology,nutrition, and maybe pharm. I plan on working in long term care/home health when I return. Any suggestions/advice would be great!!
I don't think an LPN can sit for a certification. Maybe you can look into seeing if you can work in their ER as a tech or take some classes to be a monitor tech. You'll have to be creative. By chance, are you in the military too? I would definitely try to stay in the loop by reading nursing journals and reading job related things online. Most important, make sure you keep you nurse's license active!Good Luck!Rhonda
We are not allowed to work out in town. There requirements are you have to be able to read, write, and speak Japanese and sit for their exam. Lovely. I am not active duty. There are some Universities and community colleges that offer healthcare cert's in those things listed. I also found a website with a ton of CE's on it. I guess I could do all of those. lol Just hope I can get a job when we get back. Very heartbreaking news
