want to run away

I just experince the worst tranistional period in my nursing career. I accepted a position to transition from medical surgical/hi-obs nurse to MICU nurse. It seemed like nothing I did was correct, I was always offending someone by stating that I was not use to doing a task a certain way or that if you show me one I will do one. It was like I was being reprogramed all over again. I down graded my previous position( LTAC) to seek this new position in hosptial setting ( MICU). I was informed by several coworker that I was not going to have a good experince or like where I was going, but I wanted to see for myself. I am 40y/o and single and I wanted to enhance my nursing skills and to continue to further my professional development. Needless to say I got fired, this was quite a shock to me, I have never been fired, this made me rethink my blind ambition. I forgot to mention, I will graduate in a month with honors from an RN-BSN program, was I wrong for going outside my comfort zones?
Never be sorry for having ambition and courage. Most often it's more about the fit of personalities...I've seen some very respected and excellent Nurses "flunk out of another ICU. Don't know why, it's happened to me, it's happened to people I know and know of...Just try another ICU. Oh and congrats on the BSN with honors!

The whole situation sounds like it was not about you, but them.Have seen lots of jealousy over others' achievements, education, looks, presentation skills, personality, etc. in Nursing... much of it seems like high school. And it's both females and males. Be glad you're out of there. Move forward to a better environment with a classier group of folks.Keep succeeding. Don't let 'em get ya down.
I was hoping none of that was a factor, I assumed that we where all professional and striving to provide quailty patient care. Thank you for your words of encouragement.
