RN vs. Nuclear Medicine Technologist

I am looking for some career advice as well. I am currently a Sales Manager in New Homes Sales and the housing market on a rapid decline.....I have been thinking about nursing for awhile now for the stability and job satisfaction, but after speaking with a friend that is currently an RN, I was made aware of the nuclear medicine field. What do you all think about this field? Any pros/cons?

I saw this and LOL'd at the "stability and job satisfaction" .maybe things have changed in 3 years. Hopefully they took the Nuclear Medicine route.

I only laughed at the job satisfaction part as can be evidenced on one of the other threads titled" I hate where nursing is headed"( or something to that effect.) I would have to say I am not satisfied with the job, but that is because of the environment I am currently in.I believe if you can tolerate the baloney of being a nurse, working in the ICU to get your time in, and then moving on to CRNA school, that you will have a better goal than someone who is stuck being a floor nurse in a hospital.I can't really speak of nuclear medicine as I have no experience there, but since the person was in the decision making stage, I would have recommended anything over nursing. Of course my opinion doesn't reflect everyone elses opinion. Since you are in the decision making process, I would recommend shadowing in the ICU, shadowing some CRNA's,etc .Best wishes and good luck.

Nuclear Medicine jobs are VERY HARD to come by and will be so for a long time, go nursing...
