Did you get anything?

I found out yesterday that I passed boards and am now a Registered Nurse Soooo excited!!! If I wasn't sick, I'd be jumping up and down and screaming! :P
Anyway, I've been browsing online and looking at some Nurse things like: Bumper Stickers, License Plate Frames, Mugs, Magnets, etc.

I really want to get something that says I'm a nurse (other than my license), and I'm just trying to figure out what to buy. Do you think putting something on the car is tacky?

Did you buy anything?
Someone did a study (I read the article in nursing school) that concluded it's bad to put RN stuff on your car or otherwise identify yourself as a nurse to strangers because it makes you the object of criminal attention more often.

I haven't actually bought anything yet but I have been looking.. I will be ordering something soon thoughCongrats and Happy Nursing

I just have a sticker from my college of nursing on my car's back window. You could have your stethoscope engraved with RN after your name Congrats on passing boards!

We were advised not to have any thing on our car that identifies us as a nurse....

I bought and use a pin holder and tac pin that say RN on them. My school pin is on the pin holder so I don't weaken the clasp taking it off and putting it on my uniform. I agree that it is a bad idea to put anything on your car that identifies you as a nurse. That includes hanging your stethoscope or lanyard with your badge on it over your rear view mirror.

Ok, forgive my air head state of mind right now...but why would putting anything on your car that refers to your being a nurse make you a target for criminals? Because they think you have drugs in the car? Because that is the new thing for gang initiation (a friend of mine was killed a few years ago while stopping to get gas one morning because she was wearing scrubs and a local gang was targeting medical personnel for initiation), or because they know you have insurance? Enlighten me, O Allnurses members! (And should I take my Yale medical sticker off my car??)

Comment:
probably because you have a decent job and may have more stuff in the car than the average joe? if it is parked in front of your house then you might have more stuff in your house than the average joe..... I dont think it would make a difference, when people are gonna steal, it doesnt matter what the car says... they steal it...
