Computerized chartingRating: (votes: 0) Anyway, they use computerized charting on that floor...and what I'm wondering is are the doctors orders computerized?! I'm sure hoping so! Depends on the facility. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Comment:
Quote from aellisrnso, after months if searching, i finally landed a job! and a pretty good one too! anyway, they use computerized charting on that floor...and what i'm wondering is are the doctors orders computerized?! i'm sure hoping so!
Comment:
We do SOME computerized charting (not on pt assessments or things like dressing changes, though) but Dr's orders are always hand-written.

Agreed, it depends on the system the facility has in place. A lot of times places seem to hold back on CPOE until they get everyone somewhat used to the basics of computer charting. Maybe you'll be lucky and they'll already have phased in CPOE as well! Best of luck with your new job.

At my hospital we are almost completely computerized, including med administration and orders!! It's great! I absolutely love it!! I don't know how I would ever go back to doing it in paper!!

Those of you whose facilities are completely computerized, what do you do in the event of power outage or computer system failure/unplanned downtime?(just out of curiosity, since our facility is partly computerized and partly on paper, but planning to transition to all computerized sometime in the future.)

At my hospital we are all computerized. I love it, now (didn't at first). Dr's orders are all computerized too!! And now, we can read every one of them without turning the page upside down and backwards!! And in response to the power outage/downtime, we go back to paper charting. When a known downtime is on the way, all are MARs are printed, and we have all the old paperwork ready for it, then it goes in the chart just like old times!
