Needle stick and MRSA

Rating:
(votes: 0)

While injecting lidocaine into an abcess of a patient with a history of MRSA, the doctor accidently stuck me with the dirty needle. What are the chances of MRSA being transmitted via a 27 gauge needle that has been in pus and blood? Needless to say, I am very upset.
Probably better to take it up with occupational health.

Comment:
Sorry that happened. Be sure to report it and follow all your employer's protocols.

Comment:
I did attempt to look up statistics but without the abscess being confirmed MRSA it is going to depend on other factors. Sorry we can't help.
