My friend needs to get a CNA certificationRating: (votes: 2) I don't see why she couldn't work as a CNA. I'm pretty sure you aren't barred from it in any way. I'm not sure what its like in California, but in CT most places will allow a nursing student who has completed at least 1 year of clinicals to work as a CNA without taking the exam. If she's getting ready to take her NCLEX I would assume she's already more then qualified to apply for CNA positions. Many hospitals will also let you start training as a nurse even before you find out if you have passed the NCLEX as well. Comment:
Many states/facilities will not allow you to function below your licensure level. Even if she is allowed to function as a CNA, she should keep in mind that her work performance will be held to the standards of her highest licensure: RN.
