My friend needs to get a CNA certification

Hi, I have a friend who is studying to take her NCLEX in abput 4 months, but she is in a desperate situation: her husband died last year, and has two children; she really needs to get a better job, and is planning to take the CNA course in the meanwhile. Is there any chance that she couldn't keep working as CNA if she passes her NCLEX? Is she going to be barred from working as a CNA? You know that once she gets her RN license, she's going to spend some time until she gets a position as RN. She is from CA.
I don't see why she couldn't work as a CNA. I'm pretty sure you aren't barred from it in any way. I'm not sure what its like in California, but in CT most places will allow a nursing student who has completed at least 1 year of clinicals to work as a CNA without taking the exam. If she's getting ready to take her NCLEX I would assume she's already more then qualified to apply for CNA positions.Many hospitals will also let you start training as a nurse even before you find out if you have passed the NCLEX as well.

Many states/facilities will not allow you to function below your licensure level. Even if she is allowed to function as a CNA, she should keep in mind that her work performance will be held to the standards of her highest licensure: RN.
