How desperate can I be??? Cause I am.

So I am a new grad as of late last year. I have been doing home care since I graduated but I really want to get into corrections. I have interviewed at two facilities already and was told that there was other people more qualified than me because of military or contracter experience in the prison. SO, I have my 3rd interview at another facility coming up and I was wondering if I can say anything to let them know that I am willing to work hard,work the long hours and give it 100%, I just need to get my foot in door I want this job so bad and I feel like if I dont say something I might be over looked and regret it. How can word this without looking desperate and unprofessional? Is there anything I can say or will my lack of experience always hold me back? Should I not say anything? Please help.
Send a Thank-you note after your interview. Tell them you enjoyed meeting with them, that you have a enormous respect for the work they do and the institution. In your note re-empathize why you think you would be the perfect fit for the organization.

I wish I would have done this in my first interviews but they told me not to bring in anything so I didnt bring a pen and paper like I normally would do. After I was so nervous I didnt remember the names of the people on the panel lol.Im gonna bring one anyway next time thank you!

There was a particular hospital that I wanted to work at after I graduated and I didn't persue other hospitals as vigorously because I was waiting for a position to become available for me (which it has, finally and I am sooo glad I waited -- I love it!). Anyway, my mother is friends with someone who sits on the board at the hospital (unfortunaitely she didn't have any pull as to who gets hired and where) and she called me before my last interview there to wish me luck. When I was on the phone with her she said that there are so many other people that are coming in for that same position and you need to stand out some how. She said definitely let them know how much you want that particular position and why (what you know about the facility, population, etc.) and how they would benefit from your particular set of skills. You do have to sell yourself -- it's not bragging.Good luck and don't give up

You can also look into agencies in your area that do PRN work for correctional institutions. This way you can get your feet wet and see how you like it before jumping into a permanent position. I did this in Indiana and ended up just staying agency until the birth of my baby 8 months later. I really liked the easy work, weekly pay and making my own schedule. I also went through the same training that regular employees have so I was fully prepared when I hit the floor.

There's nothing wrong with selling ur skills. Since they have told you there are others more qualified you should know that they are worried about experience. You can tell them all what you said above and also you learn quick and would give it all you've got. You dont need to sound desperate but sound professional when you are saying it so as not to sound like you are grovelling (If there's a word like that)
