Oh well:-/Rating: (votes: 0) you are in a spot that many of us have been contemplating for a bit. So what happened that you came to that decision? are you going to do a diifferent field- go back to school in a different area? I ask this because believe me it has gone thru my head many times. but I know my consequences of not working might be different than yours.what field do youy want to try next?Oh , and I'm sorry it had to come to this for you, but I understand(well maybe) Comment:
as with the above poster, i support your decision but you have left a lot of questions. in addition to the above posters questions: in five years did you work in various areas and for various facilities or did you remain with the same facility and/or the same department?with five years of work experience i think you can reinvent yourself as a nurse assuming you are not living in an area that requires 1-2 years of a particular experience that you may not have at this time. for instance, you can become a full-time clincial instructor in some areas... you can also work in insurance.... leave the hospital (if you have not already) and work outpatient rather then start all over in your career. gl!

Prior to becoming a nurse, I worked in the business field for 13 years. During that time, I was respected as a human being and productive member of society. I can honestly say that I have never felt that way as a nurse. I seriously contemplate leaving the profession, especially since I feel I have run out of 'I care'.

What made you quit in the first place? And another question I'm curious about: how could you afford to quit?
