Please help me.Rating: (votes: 0) try volunteering at some locations so you could get the hang of how the floors are and ask them if you can shadow a nurse for a day so you can see how life is on their floor. Comment:
I agree with the other poster. And, check into hospital around you to see if they have internship programs & what types of refreshers they have for "new old" nurses. I wish you the best!

Thanks so much for replying. I will look into those opportunities.

Why don't you go to all the nursing agencies near you, and sign up with them? then you can work your own shifts (usually) and pretty much choose what areas you want to go to? Then after one shift in a place, you can decide whether or not to go back. It worked for me and sounds like it would suit you.Let us know how you get on with everything.

On my floor, med/surg, all new nurses hired (experienced RN's) are given at least a month of mentoring with an experienced RN on the floor. Then if the mentor and new hire agree that the new hire RN is ready to be on own ,so be it, but there is always the option to extend orientation. As for new grad RN's, they are hired into a 'new grad program' and are given 18 weeks of mentoring/orientation to floor and classroom time also.
