What have I become?Rating: (votes: 0) I think the depressed economy really affected/still affects everyone. There are a lot of depressed and even suicidal nurses on here - they can't find work, their family relationships are strained, they are searching for work all the time, and they don't have any or much leisure, probably because they can't afford it. Whinge away everyone; that is what we are all here for - to listen and support others.Even here in Oz land, I was finding it a bit difficult to get work and I have good, sound experience as a RN (I did move to a smaller place though). And we didn't even really HAVE a recession here. I think it's been very hard for people to stay positive, even in small ways. I noticed everyone else lately around me (or most people anyway), seem to be more negative and argumentative; techy might be the word. People don't seem to joke around as much as they used to.Mind you, I live with parents at the mo who are extremely negative and emotionally detached on many levels, so maybe I'm just more sensitive to people's moods? But people are finding it harder to be positive about anything at all. I'll join the OP for a whine-free day. All I find myself doing is the same as of late, surrounded with worry and negative energy.

I like the whine free day and also set limits on those who are whiningto you that day.Why not list what you will do that day. There are plenty of postiveactivities to do. Let the energy vampires exhaust themselves .Enjoy your free day. This could turn into a month and then a year of whine free living.I like that concept!!!!More time to dance!

I am blessed How is that for a non-whining mantra?

Maybe you need a bracelet from here. They're free and they remind me to **** when I'm about to crab about something. Sometimes. Not all the time, but I'm working on it.

Whenever I find myself starting to get into a whiny kind of mood, I try to stop myself and literally count my blessings. I have (thankfully) never gone a day in my life without a roof over my head and food on the table. I have a wonderful family that I love. I have friends. I have...... (you get the picture). It's so easy to take the good things in our life for granted, and focus on all the things we wish were different. We shouldn't have to wait till Thanksgiving to focus on things in our life for which we are grateful. Instead, we should make it a daily practice.

My current favorite phrase is "it's a good thing I like lemonade because life keeps on handing me lemons". It's all about how you frame it We all need to whine and vent sometimes but we also need to know when to pull ourselves out of our pity party and get on with it.
