Immunizations

Does anyone now how many times a person can take the Hep B series and it still be safe. I have had it 3 times plus a booster and I am still not immuned. Also i had my immunizations as a child plus a MMR booster in 1993 and I am still not immuned to MMR.
Well, it looks like you aren't going to convert. Some people just never do. I don't know about how many times you can take the Hep B series, but I know when I was working in OB, we had a few women on baby 7,8 or 9 who got the MMR after EVERY baby and NEVER converted. Personally, there should be a point when you stop trying, but I don't know when that point is. I doubt there is any danger in being immunized again, but it seems pretty worthless to keep doing it...

Maybe I'm dumb...but if you don't convert, does that mean you can't get the illness? I got hep B as a kid too and found out I'm not immune so am getting the series again- I never considered the fact that I might not be "converting."

If your lab results are low for anti-HBV, less than 10mIU/ml, then you are not immune. If you don't respond to the first round you can do another round. The CDC says if you don't respond to the second round you are a non-responder and more vaccination is not necessary as it isn't likely to be of any benefit. Some people genetically just don't produce the immunity to certain things.So hiddencat, yes you could still get Hep B.

Thank you thats what i thought too, i just hope my new employer doesnt try and make me take it again. Thats what i am afraid of and didn't know if taking the Hep B vaccine too many times if it could cause any liver damage.
